What role do you play as a Design Lead when addressing a product’s UX? Today, User Experience (UX) is shared across so many disciplines. Knowledge surrounding good UX practices is everywhere and that information often overlaps with other departments like Engineering, Marketing, and Support. Basically — good UX is a collective effort.
However, design is the only discipline that consolidates everyone’s input and visualises that journey. As a Design Lead, I remind my team to take a step back from the screen to gain a birds-eye-view of the customer journey. And to question each step; Could it be made easier? Could that step be removed? Could this be made more enjoyable?
What types of products have you worked on? In 2007 I was designing a variety of billing, reconciliation, and moderation systems for organisations running intranets. Then in 2016, I started to work on 2 and 3-sided recruitment marketplaces sold as a B2C and B2B SaaS platforms. During this time, successful design wasn’t defined by what the design team could produce. It was about efficient PDLCs, design systems, and product testing.
In 2019 I worked on an enterprise-level, finance and lending platform managing a design team in Sydney and London. I’m now working for Vouch creating a B2C SaaS platform for teams who want to crowdsource and remix video.
